Day 13/91

Coronavirus

Coronavirus is here. The world is in fear and panic. All footy is canceled, but we have a plan. We are going for a bigger declutter zone goal tomorrow. Our patio. There will also be ample time to read and catch up on what I thought was my goal.

Day 12/91 – The Pantry

The Pantry

Today, while the markets had a meltdown and the world searched for TP, we started over with our pantry. Actually, it’s our old pantry, we outgrew it long ago. Regardless, it’s another “dark” area prone to catching stuff that shouldn’t be there. We emptied all the contents, sorted them, trashed some, returned some, and set some aside for a delayed judgment.

Day 9/91 – The Junk Drawer

The Junk Drawer

Every home has one. It’s not anyone’s dirty little secret, really. It’s the junk drawer. A catchall for items that don’t seem to fit anywhere else. The Island of Misfits but only the domestic drawer variety.

This period of 91 Days has started off a bit tepid. However is the spirit of baby steps are giant leaps and as part of the plan to declutter, I enlisted the teenage daughter, my co-conspirator, and we tackled the junk drawer.

The drawer was emptied on to our main table. A clear table thanks to the ALL SURFACES CLEAR idea being practiced. The contents were sorted in three categories, those going back into the drawer, those going to the trash, and those to be sorted later. That pile, strangely enough, ended up with household hardware items. These will find their proper homes in the toolbox in the shed.

I only realize now that I should have taken some pictures to jazz this post up but also to be transparent in this exercise. This is my journey and I get to make the rules.

Day 8/91 Weekly Reflection

Day 8/91

Today is Weekly Planning and Reflection Day. It’s really a day to look back and see what went well and learn from that which didn’t go as planned. Honestly, I’m having a bit of a hard time finding the right gear or rhythm to the goals for the current 91 days.

I am behind many things but I’m not going to beat myself up over it. That would be counter-productive. Instead, I will focus on baby steps to move me towards even the day’s smallest task towards my goals.

The weekends are critical times to the schedule. Sunday’s need my full attention. It is the start of my week. Well on to week two.

Day 3/91

Sleep Shifting

Where I lived there is a time change coming. We will spring forward into Daylight Saving Time (DST). The clock moves forward one hour. We lose an hour of sleep.

High Achievers take steps to combat the side effects of the inevitable sleep deprivation that occurs on the Monday following the time change. They sleep shift.

Sleep Shifting is the simple technique of making small deviations from your regular sleep/wake cycle over time. For instance, DST is coming in a few days so wake up ten minutes earlier each day until the time change. Remember that when your 05:30 morning alarm goes off Monday morning your body feels that it is 04:30. Your body has lost one hour from its sleep/wake cycle.

Making incremental changes to your wake time over several days eliminates the sudden shock of having to abruptly wake up early. This will result in more awareness and very little change in your morning routine. Everybody else will be late and be low energy.

Day 2/91

In the name of transparency, I am using this space to hash out my goals. It’s a new practice for me. This is what practicing intention looks like for me. I have read that setting SMART goals becomes easier the more you do it. That it feels awkward when you are starting out. It sounds a lot like other skills that are learnable. I am going to really flesh out this goal to include the sensory side of it. What it smells like, looks like, sounds like. It should be so vivid that when it happens it will feel like deja vu.

To further my desire to become a listing agent to be reckoned with I will over, the next 91 days, 1)learn basic business structure and systems from real estate experts, 2)become proficient at closing buy studying books on the subject, for example, Secrets of Closing the Sale by Zig Ziglar, 3)study negotiation tactics and become proficient in the use and counter-use, and 4)become proficient in the multimedia of social and generate regular content positioning me as the local expert.

The milestones along the way will be 1) a one-page business plan, 2) the volume of quality content shared, 3) videos and audio recording of my progress as I work on my delivery of scripts, closes, and presentations.

I am committed to learning and mastering the skills of negotiation, closing the sale, presenting the offer, and overall presentation within the next 91 days with the aim to be a powerful and successful listing agent in any area I choose.
